I’m in Paris for the next few days as a guest of Michelin, the producers of the Green Guides and other guidebooks. I love Paris; this is my fifth visit to the city (although my first since 2005).
Scarves were everywhere.
After lunching with a friend who goes to graduate school here, I walked up and down the Seine riverbank, people watching until my jet lag bested me.
The weather is sunny, with temperatures in the 40s. You’d think it was much colder, however, by the way the Parisians were dressed.
I saw many bulky sweaters and coats – and of course, that staple of French fashion, the scarf.
EVERYONE, and I mean everyone, wears a scarf in Paris. It defies age and gender, hip and staid.
In fact, I felt a little out of place without one. Luckily, there are plenty of stands where you can buy some very cheap, yet practical scarves so you can let your French flair fly.
