What we’re watching: San Diego’s new airport, cycling awareness, California dreaming

This week in What we’re watching there are videos about the new San Diego Airport, a British cycling awareness video that is startling, and a piece on Palm Springs that is part of a continuing series on the California experience.

The future for the San Diego Airport

Changes are coming to the airport in San Diego. It seems that the worse the airlines treat passengers the more airports are trying to make up for the experience in the air. Remember when the flight was the nice part? Now, a good airport experience can save a vacation.

British cycling awareness video

This brilliant video ingeniously shows viewers how they often miss seeing something right before their eyes because they were not looking for it. Message — watch carefully for bicyclists on the street.

Inspired by Palm Springs, California

Inspired by California is a creative attempt to find something good about every corner of California. Other videos in this series show bicycling in LA, the Joshua Tree National Monument and San Diego. Hey, I like the music in the Joshua Tree piece.

Artist, Kirby Scudder and filmmaker Mark Halfmoon have been on the road since the middle of May traveling around the State of California, asking Californians what inspires them about the State. At a time when headlines are offering up stories with negative overtones about the State, Scudder and Halfmoon are traveling the State asking people about their passion for California. Clips from their interviews can be seen daily on www.inspiredbycalifornia.com. Scudder and Halfmoon have teamed up with the California Travel and Tourism Commission to document Californians thoughts on California. Currently in Joshua tree, CA, Scudder and Halfmoon are traveling North through the State to talk to Californians about their State and their personal stories. They will complete their journey in mid-August in Santa Cruz.
